The Baby-sitters Club Super Special: BABY-SITTERS ON BOARD!

Twenty years since my first BSC graphic novel adaptation hit shelves, and forty years since Ann M. Martin’s very first Baby-sitters Club book was published, I’m THRILLED to return to the series for a super-special team-up with a super-special collaborator! From the press release:

"The Baby-sitters Club Super Special: Baby-sitters on Board," adapted and illustrated by Raina Telgemeier and Gale Galligan, comes out on Sept. 15. As part of the book series' 40-year anniversary, Scholastic is releasing the first-ever graphic novel adaptation of a "Baby-sitters Club" super special book. The 15 "super special" books are longer than the standard novels and feature narration from every member of the BSC.

In the book, Kristy, Claudia, Mary Anne, Stacey, Dawn, Mallory and Jessi head to the Bahamas on a cruise for three days of fun. Amid all the adventure, these girls still have time for what they do best: babysitting!”

Gale Galligan adapted BSC Graphix 4-8, and they’ve been creating hilarious, heartfelt original graphic novels in the years since. When our editor approached us about CO-illustrating a BSC graphic novel, we jumped at the chance! Baby-sitters On Board was also one of my favorite books when it was published in 1988, and I think old and new fans alike will love this one. I had a blast working on this book, returning to the world of Stoneybrook and beyond, and of course—working together with Gale!

We worked with a few other fantastic collaborators, as well! My pages were inked by Ray Baehr (who also inked The Cartoonists Club), and the whole book was colored by K Czap (who has colored Gale’s original graphic novels)! What a dream team!

The book comes out on September 15th, and we’ll be going on tour (including a special appearance with Ann M. Martin!!). We can’t wait to see all of our readers!
